The 5 Best Walks in Lekki, Ranked

Five actual walks in a city built for cars, ordered by how pleasant they are on the ground.

One to three

1) Lekki Conservation Centre trails. 78 hectares of protected forest with boardwalks, the 401-metre canopy walk, and monkeys if you go early. Two hours end to end. 2) Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge pedestrian lane. 1.36km each way with proper railings and lagoon views. Go at 6am for joggers or 6pm for sunset. Both ends have parking.

3) Elegushi to Oniru along the beach at low tide. Roughly 2km of sand walking with fishermen, informal vendors and the odd horse ride on offer. Do it in the morning before the sun hardens.

Four and five

4) Freedom Way in Phase 1, from the roundabout down to Admiralty. Not scenic but the most walkable commercial stretch in Lekki — pavements exist, coffee shops line the route, and you can actually pop in and out of places. About 20 minutes end to end. 5) Lufasi Nature Park in Abraham Adesanya. Quieter than Lekki Conservation Centre, with turtle enclosures and a small forest loop. Under-visited and better for that.

Lekki is genuinely not built for walking — pavements vanish, drainage is open, and traffic is aggressive. These five are the exceptions worth planning around.

Before you book

What people ask before booking Abraham Adesanya.

Is it safe to walk alone in Lekki?

In daylight on these five routes, yes. After dark, take an Uber even for short distances — pavements are unlit and drivers do not expect pedestrians.

Are there any hiking trails?

Not really. The peninsula is flat and mostly developed. Lekki Conservation Centre is the closest thing to a hike, and it is on boardwalks.
