There's no metro, no Uber-alternative worth mentioning, and the traffic is real — here's how to move around Lekki without losing 3 hours a day.
The options ranked
Uber and Bolt are your default — both work well in Lekki and VI, with Bolt slightly cheaper. Short hops inside Phase 1 cost $3 to $5; Lekki to VI runs $6 to $10 off-peak, double at rush. Danfos (yellow minibuses) run the Lekki-Epe expressway for $0.50 flat, but you need to know the calls — 'Ajah!', 'CMS!' — and be comfortable in a very full van. Okadas (motorcycle taxis) are fast and banned on the expressway; use them only inside estates.
Timing the traffic
The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge is your friend — cross for VI or Ikoyi in 15 minutes off-peak instead of 45 on Falomo. Morning traffic is worst 7 to 10am heading toward VI; evening 5 to 8pm heading toward Lekki. Never make a same-day trip to Ibeju-Lekki on Friday afternoons — Sangotedo bottleneck will destroy you. Best move: batch your Lekki days, then batch your VI days, so you cross the bridge twice not eight times.
