How Many Days Do You Need in Lekki?

Three full days is the sweet spot for Lekki, giving you a beach day, a culture day and a food-and-shopping day without feeling rushed.

Day counts by traveller type

For a first-time visitor combining Lekki with Lagos highlights, budget three nights here plus two in Victoria Island or Ikoyi. That gets you Lekki Conservation Centre, Nike Art Gallery, a beach day at Elegushi or Landmark, dinner at Nok or Shiro, and enough breathing room to lose an afternoon to traffic without ruining the itinerary. A four-night stay lets you add a full-day trip to Epe or Badagry.

Business travellers on a short trip should treat Lekki as a two-night base with an early check-in, one working day, and a Saturday morning at the beach before flying out. Anything under 48 hours is dominated by traffic and jet lag. If you’re mostly there for Detty December, five nights minimum — the events are spread from Ibeju-Lekki to Victoria Island and you’ll want daytime recovery.

When to stay longer, when to stay less

Stay longer if you’re beach-focused. Ibeju-Lekki has genuinely lovely stretches at Eleko, La Campagne Tropicana and Ilashe (via boat from Victoria Island), and each deserves a dedicated day. A week lets you rotate: two Phase 1 days, two Ibeju-Lekki beach days, one Epe day trip, one Lagos Island culture day, one rest day. That's the pace at which Lekki stops feeling like traffic and starts feeling like a holiday.

Stay less if you’re really there for Lagos as a whole. One night in Lekki, three in Ikoyi or Victoria Island makes more sense — you’ll see Nike Art Gallery and eat one great Lekki dinner without wasting mornings crossing the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge. Never book a single overnight in Lekki around a weekday: the traffic in and out will consume the entire visit.

Before you book

What people ask before booking Ibeju-Lekki.

Is one day enough for Lekki?

Only as a day trip from Victoria Island or Ikoyi, hitting Nike Art Gallery in the morning, lunch on Admiralty Way, and Lekki Conservation Centre in the afternoon before traffic thickens.

What's the maximum before it feels too long?

Around 7-8 nights unless you love beach days. After that, most tourists start feeling the sameness of the peninsula and want to move to Ikoyi or leave Lagos entirely.
