The main attraction
The canopy walkway is the reason to go — 401 metres of suspended bridge, up to 21 metres above the mangrove forest, and yes it sways. Entry $5, canopy walkway $8 on top. The queue at weekends can hit 2 hours; go Tuesday to Thursday morning for zero wait. Once you’re up, count on 40 minutes to walk end to end with photo stops. Vertigo-prone travellers should genuinely reconsider — this isn’t a gentle boardwalk.
The rest of the reserve
Beyond the walkway there's a ground boardwalk through the mangroves (good for monkeys and monitor lizards), a Family Park with a treehouse, and a small pond area. Total loop takes 2 hours at a steady pace. Bring water — cafe is basic and overpriced. Mosquito repellent essential from June to September. The gift shop is skippable. Combine with Nike Art Gallery for a solid half-day of non-beach Lekki.
Questions, answered
Is it kid-friendly?
Yes on the ground boardwalks. The canopy walkway has a minimum age of 6 and even then, judge your child honestly.
Best time of year?
November to March. Rainy season closes sections and mosquitoes are punishing.
Doing good is the business: every booking through Stay Lekki funds one verified tonne of carbon removal — same room, same price, no markup.
