The workhorses
Eko Hotel & Suites is the biggest conference venue in Lagos — the Convention Centre holds 5,000 and the smaller Kuramo Hall is the default for tech conferences and product launches. Lagos Continental has the best-maintained boardrooms in the corridor with reliable video-conferencing setups and a business centre that will print, bind, and deliver at odd hours. Radisson Blu Anchorage runs smaller but polished meeting spaces that work well for 20-80 person events.
For mid-scale conferences (100-400 delegates), The George, Southern Sun Ikoyi, and Oriental Hotel all have functional ballrooms with AV pre-installed. Landmark Event Centre isn’t hotel-owned but sits next to the Landmark hotel wing and is where a lot of tech and fintech events land. Bon Hotel Sunrise in Ajah takes overflow when the Ikoyi properties book out.
What to check before booking
Ask about backup power specifically for the meeting room, wifi bandwidth (aim for at least 100Mbps dedicated), and whether coffee breaks are catered in-house or outsourced — outsourced usually means delayed. Check the projector resolution; some hotels still run 1024x768 screens that make slide decks look terrible. HDMI is standard now; VGA adapters are usually available on request.
Rates for a full-day delegate package (room, coffee breaks, lunch, AV) run ₦25,000-₦55,000 per person at the top-tier venues and ₦15,000-₦25,000 at the mid-tier ones. Weekday rates are non-negotiable during peak conference months (February-May and September-November). Book at least six weeks ahead for anything larger than 50 people.
