Lekki Hotels with Genuine 24/7 Power (Not Just a Promise)

Nine hotels where the generator actually kicks in within seconds when the grid drops — because in Lagos, this is a real amenity.

The reliable ones

Every serious Lekki hotel runs on a combination of grid (IKEDC), diesel generator, and increasingly solar plus inverter. But the transition matters. At Eko Hotel, Radisson Blu, Lagos Continental, and The George, the changeover is silent — you barely notice the light flicker. AC keeps running, lifts keep working, wifi stays up. These hotels burn through serious diesel and the room rate reflects it.

Mid-tier picks that hold up: Bon Hotel Elphi, The Blowfish, Grand Cubana in Ikeja, and Southern Sun. Expect a 5-10 second lift outage during changeover and occasional wifi drops. Lakowe Lakes runs a hybrid solar-diesel setup that is quieter than most. Landmark's hotel wing is reliable but the beach-club side sometimes runs a separate generator that is louder.

Questions to ask before you book

Ask specifically: does the generator power the AC in every room, or only common areas? Some budget Lekki hotels cut room AC during grid-down hours to save fuel — you will wake up sweating at 3am. Also ask whether the hot water system runs on gas or electric; electric heaters go cold within an hour of a power cut unless the generator supports them.

Diesel prices have climbed sharply since the subsidy removal in 2023, and it shows in room rates. A hotel charging under ₦40,000 a night in Lekki Phase 1 is almost certainly cutting corners on power somewhere. If uninterrupted AC matters — for sleep, for work calls — pay for the tier above.

Before you book

What people ask before booking Lekki Phase 1.

How often does the grid go down in Lekki?

Multiple times a day in most areas. Some Phase 1 estates have Band A supply with 20+ hours daily, but citywide the average is 8-14 hours from the grid.

Do any Lekki hotels run fully off solar?

None yet at scale. Several boutique hotels have solar plus battery to cover daytime and reduce diesel burn, but overnight loads still need the generator.
