For stays over 4 nights, a kitchenette can save you $30 a day on breakfast and let you cook the market pepper soup properly.

Why apartment-hotels win here

Lekki has an oversupply of serviced apartments left over from the oil-boom expat wave, which is good news for anyone staying a week or more. Bolton White Apartments in Ikate, Fraser Suites VI, and the various managed towers along Freedom Way rent one-beds from $140 a night with a full kitchen — hob, microwave, fridge, kettle, and usually a decent set of pans. Compare with $180 at a hotel where you also need to eat every meal out.

Shopping to fill the fridge

Ebeano Supermarket in Lekki Phase 1 is the reliable Western-facing option, with imported cheese and wine at import prices. For fresh produce and cheaper staples, Sabo Market in Ikate opens 7am and beats supermarket prices by half. A week of groceries for two runs $60 to $90 depending on how much beef you buy. Uber Eats and Chowdeck cover the same postcode if you’d rather order in — dinner delivered for $10 to $18.

Before you book

What people ask before booking Lekki Phase 1.

Are kitchens actually equipped?

At apartment-hotels yes; at hotels marketing a 'kitchenette' often it's a kettle and fridge only. Ask for a photo before booking.

Is tap water drinkable?

No. Buy sachet or bottled water — even locals do. Budget $2 a day for drinking water for two.
