A Week in Lekki: 7 Days Without Repeating Yourself

Seven days paced for someone who wants to actually live in Lekki for a week, not sprint through it, with two day trips and one full rest day.

Days 1 to 3: the core

Day 1 (arrival): dinner at RSVP, sunset at Landmark, early night. Day 2: Nike Gallery in the morning, Lekki Market at lunch, Elegushi Beach afternoon, dinner at Yellow Chilli. Day 3: Lekki Conservation Centre at 8:30am, brunch at Bay Lounge, Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge walk at 5pm, dinner at Nok by Alara.

Sleep all three nights in Lekki Phase 1. Use Bolt or hire a driver at 35,000 naira per day. By the end of Day 3 you have covered what most tourists see on a short trip, and you still have four days.

Days 4 and 5: day trips

Day 4: Epe. Leave 6am for the fish market, then Onigambari or a lagoon boat, lunch at a lakeside spot, back by 6pm. Day 5: Badagry. This is a long one, 2.5 hours each way. See the Slave Route, the First Storey Building, the Point of No Return, and eat at Whispering Palms if you stay overnight. Some people prefer to sleep in Badagry and drive back Day 6 morning.

Alternative for Day 5: Ibeju-Lekki resort day at La Campagne Tropicana or Inagbe. This is a softer, less heavy option than Badagry, and better if you have kids.

Days 6 and 7: rest and depth

Day 6: rest day at your hotel pool, spa treatment at Orchid Bianca or a serviced apartment. Late lunch at Cafe Vergnano, cinema at Filmhouse Lekki, dinner at Shiro. Day 7: half day at Lufasi Nature Park or Omu Resort with kids, or a shopping morning at Alara and Temple Muse in Victoria Island, then airport by 3pm.

Sleep in Phase 1 the whole week unless you do the Badagry overnight. Moving hotels in Lagos loses you half a day each time to logistics and traffic.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Is a week too long for Lekki?

Only if you treat it as a checklist. A week works if you build in a rest day and two day trips. Without those, you will burn out on traffic and repeat the same 3 or 4 venues.

How much should I budget for a week?

Mid-range, expect 350 to 500 US dollars per day for two people: hotel 150, driver 25, food 100, activities 50, buffer 50. Luxury doubles this. Backpacker is not really a Lekki category; try mainland Lagos for that.

Doing good is the business: every booking through Stay Lekki funds one verified tonne of carbon removal — same room, same price, no markup.
