What Transport Actually Works in Lekki

For 95% of tourist trips in Lekki, Bolt or Uber is the answer, with fares ranging from 1,500 to 8,000 naira.
The transport that exists
Lekki has no metro, no tram, no functioning ferry route to Victoria Island, and no tourist-friendly bus network. The BRT stops at CMS and doesn’t cross the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge in a useful way. What you have is: ride-hailing apps (Bolt, Uber, inDrive), yellow street taxis, kekes (three-wheelers) for short hops on interior streets, okadas on very limited routes, and private hire drivers by the day.
Bolt is the workhorse. It's cheaper than Uber, covers Lekki Phase 1 to Ajah reliably, and Chevron, Ikate and Osapa London all have solid driver supply. Surge pricing kicks in during rain and rush hour (7-9am, 5-8pm). A typical Phase 1 to Victoria Island ride is 2,500-4,000 naira; Phase 1 to Ibeju-Lekki is 8,000-15,000 depending on traffic and surge.
What doesn’t work for tourists
Danfos (yellow minibuses) are cheap at 200-500 naira per trip but require knowing route names, stopping points and Pidgin, and they’re deeply uncomfortable in Lagos heat. Skip them. Okadas are banned on the Lekki-Epe Expressway and most major roads since 2024, so they’re only useful for 500-metre hops on interior streets in Agungi or Ikota, and even then they’re risky in traffic.
The Lekki Deep Sea Port ferry does not carry passengers. The old CMS-to-Ikorodu ferry doesn’t reach Lekki. Walking is possible inside Phase 1's residential streets but genuinely unpleasant along the expressway due to no pavements, fumes and heat. Rent a car? Only if you have Lagos driving experience — the traffic patterns will destroy first-timers.

Sometimes. It's often 20-30% cheaper than Bolt because you name your fare, but driver quality and car condition vary more. Fine for short daytime trips, less good for airport runs.
Book a hotel airport pickup (15,000-25,000 naira), or use Bolt at the arrivals pickup point. Avoid the touts inside the terminal offering "taxi" services.
