When to visit Lekki: a month-by-month guide

Lagos has two seasons — wet and dry — but that's only half the story. Here's the honest month-by-month for the 12 months of 2026.
Dry season: November to March
November and December are peak — hot (30 to 33°C), dry, and packed with diaspora returnees for Detty December. Hotel rates jump 30 to 50%, restaurants take bookings weeks ahead, and traffic collapses. Book by September. January brings the harmattan — dusty haze from the Sahara, cooler nights (22°C), and the cleanest beach days of the year. February and March stay dry, prices normalise, and it's arguably the best window for a first visit.
Wet season: April to October
April and May bring the first rains — usually late-afternoon dumps that clear within an hour. June to September is the heavy wet season, with July genuinely miserable — flooded streets, cancelled beach plans, and mould in cheap hotel rooms. October is the shoulder: still wet but easing, and hotels drop rates by 25%. Anyone travelling for beach clubs and Lagos nightlife should aim for late October through early December or all of February.
