Lakowe is a resort, essentially

Lakowe sits north of the expressway between Awoyaya and Ibeju-Lekki, and it is dominated by Lakowe Lakes Golf & Country Estate — a large gated development built around a lake and an 18-hole golf course. There are villa rentals inside the estate, a boutique hotel wing, and a growing number of Airbnbs owned by absentee owners.

It suits golfers, romantic weekends, small corporate retreats, and Lagosians wanting a genuine "I’m out of the city" feeling without leaving Lagos state. It does not suit budget travellers or anyone who wants to walk out to a restaurant scene — inside the gate is the entire world of Lakowe.

Prices and access

Hotel-wing rooms run ₦120,000-180,000. Villa rentals with private plunge pools go ₦250,000-450,000 for two-to-three-bed configurations. That is Victoria Island pricing in a resort setting.

Walkable, inside the estate: the golf clubhouse, a spa, a couple of restaurants, jogging trails around the lake. Outside the estate: nothing meaningful. The expressway is 5-10 minutes by car. Phase 1 is 60-90 minutes; Eleko Beach is 30 minutes east.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Do I need to golf to enjoy Lakowe?

No — the lake, spa and villas are the main draw for most guests. Day passes to the clubhouse are also sold to non-residents.

Is Lakowe worth the price?

For a special-occasion weekend, yes. For a working-week base, no — the commute to Lagos is punishing.

Doing good is the business: every booking through Stay Lekki funds one verified tonne of carbon removal — same room, same price, no markup.
