VI trades peninsula prices for genuine city convenience — expect ₦100,000-500,000 a night versus Lekki's ₦45,000-250,000.

What Victoria Island gives you

Victoria Island (VI) is the corporate and diplomatic heart of Lagos. Every major bank has its HQ here, most embassies sit inside a two-kilometre radius, and the best-established hotels — Eko Hotel, Radisson Blu, Federal Palace, Lagos Continental — are all on the island. It's dense, walkable in patches, and puts you 15 minutes from Ikoyi and 25-45 minutes from Phase 1 depending on traffic.

It suits business travellers, diplomats, event-goers heading to Eko Hotel or the Landmark Events Centre (technically Lekki-side but easy from VI), and anyone who wants to actually walk between hotel, dinner and drinks. It does not suit budget travellers — VI is Lagos's most expensive district by hotel rates.

Prices and walkability

Budget on VI barely exists; entry-level rooms start at ₦80,000-120,000. Mid-range hotels sit at ₦150,000-280,000. The five-stars (Radisson, Continental, Eko) run ₦300,000-600,000. That's roughly double Lekki Phase 1 for equivalent quality.

Walkable: dozens of restaurants (RSVP, Cactus, Sky Restaurant, dozens of Lebanese and Indian spots), Bar Beach, Kuramo Waters, the Silverbird Galleria, most banks, most embassies. The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge connects you to the peninsula. For a first-time Lagos visitor with money, VI is the safest, most walkable base.

Before you book

What people ask before booking Lekki Phase 1.

Is Victoria Island in Lekki?

No — VI sits at the western end of the peninsula, before Lekki begins. They’re connected by the expressway and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.

Should first-timers pick VI or Lekki?

VI for business and short trips; Lekki Phase 1 for a mix of business and leisure with beaches on the doorstep.
