The drive
From Lekki Phase 1 it's about 70 kilometres east on the Lekki-Epe Expressway to Ikegun, Ibeju-Lekki. Allow 90 minutes each way with traffic, 60 minutes if you leave by 7am. A Bolt one-way is $25 to $35, or hire a driver for the day for $80. Once past Ajah the road opens up and the drive becomes pleasant.
On site
Day pass is $30 to $40 depending on the day, includes access to the beach, pool, lake and gardens. Horse rides on the sand are $10 for 20 minutes, kayaks on the lake $8 an hour. Lunch buffet at the main restaurant runs $25 with fresh seafood, jollof and grilled meat. The beach itself is Atlantic and can have strong currents; there are lifeguards but swim within the flags.
Making it worth the drive
Leave Lekki by 8am, aim to arrive by 9:30am when the resort is quiet. Do beach and horses before lunch, lake and pool after. Head back by 4pm to beat the return traffic. Overnight stays start around $180 in a rondavel if you want to skip the drive back, worth considering for a weekend.
