What Lekki hotels actually cost in 2024
Budget rooms in Lekki start around ₦25,000–₦45,000 a night in Ajah, Sangotedo, Ikota and outer Chevron. At this level expect an inverter for outage cover, a small generator, unreliable hot water and no restaurant to speak of. Mid-range, ₦60,000–₦130,000, is the sweet spot in Ikate, Agungi and Phase 2 — 24-hour power, a working pool or gym, breakfast included, and a reception that can actually order you a Bolt. Serviced apartments in Osapa London and Ikate at ₦90,000–₦180,000 are often better value than hotels for stays over four nights.
Top-end in Phase 1 and Oniru runs ₦200,000–₦600,000, with the Radisson Blu Anchorage, Lekki Coliseum and a handful of Oniru boutiques at the upper end. Rates spike in December (add 40–70%), during major concerts at Eko Hotel or Livespot Entertarium, and around the Lagos Photo Festival in November. Most Lekki hotels quote in naira but a few Phase 1 properties still price in dollars — always confirm which, and whether the 7.5% VAT and 5% consumption tax are included.
The Lekki booking trap: address, tolls and generator noise
The one thing no one tells you: a Lekki address on a booking site is not the same as being in Lekki. Listings marked "Lekki" routinely turn out to be in Ajah, Sangotedo or even Awoyaya, 20–35 km further out along the expressway, past the second toll gate. Check the actual street and cross-reference on Google Maps against the Lekki roundabouts (Phase 1 gate, Ikate/Chevron/Jakande roundabouts) before you book. The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge toll is ₦300 each way for cars and the Admiralty Circle toll on the expressway is ₦350 — small money, but a Bolt driver may refuse the trip or ask you to cover it in cash.
The second trap is noise. Diesel generators run through PHCN outages, and a cheap room facing the genset housing will keep you up all night — ask for a room away from the back of the building. Third: the beach hotels in Ibeju-Lekki and Eleko (La Campagne Tropicana, Amen Estate area) look close on a map but are 60–75 km from VI, and there is nothing to do outside the resort gates, so treat them as destinations rather than bases.
Where to stay in Lekki: choosing between Phase 1, Ikate, Chevron and Ajah
Lekki Phase 1 is where most first-time visitors should stay: it sits right after Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, puts you 10 minutes from Victoria Island and gives you the highest concentration of restaurants along Admiralty Way. Rates here are the steepest on the peninsula, typically ₦90,000–₦250,000 a night. Ikate and Lekki Phase 2, one roundabout further out along Lekki-Epe Expressway, cut 20–30% off the price for essentially the same access. Oniru, technically between VI and Lekki, is the pick if you want the beach clubs at Landmark within walking distance.
Chevron, Agungi, Osapa London and Jakande sit between the second and third roundabouts and suit longer stays or business travellers visiting the Chevron and Shell offices. Ajah, Sangotedo and Awoyaya are 25–40 km from VI and price accordingly — often ₦40,000–₦80,000 for the same standard of room — but the commute back inbound after 7am is brutal. Ibeju-Lekki, Eleko and Lakowe are worth it only if your trip is built around Dangote Refinery, La Campagne Tropicana or the Lakowe Lakes golf course; from Eleko back to Phase 1 is a 90-minute drive on a good day.
