Where to stay

What Lekki hotels actually cost

Budget rooms — small guesthouses and unbranded hotels in Ikate, Agungi, Ikota and Ajah — run roughly ₦35,000-₦70,000 a night in 2024 pricing, usually with AC, inverter backup and breakfast but not always hot water or reliable Wi-Fi. Mid-range in Lekki Phase 1, Chevron and Osapa London sits at ₦80,000-₦180,000 and gets you a pool, a working generator through NEPA outages, and a restaurant. Serviced apartments in Ikate and Lekki Phase 2 at 3-7 night stays often beat hotels on value.

Upper-end hotels on the peninsula and in Oniru — think the branded chains near the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge — are ₦220,000-₦500,000, and Victoria Island landmarks like Eko, Radisson Blu Anchorage and the Federal Palace push ₦350,000-₦800,000. Beach resorts in Ibeju-Lekki and Lakowe run ₦180,000-₦450,000 with meals. Rates spike hardest between 20 December and 3 January and around Afro Nation dates; a room that is ₦120,000 in September can be ₦220,000 on 28 December.

The Lekki booking trap nobody warns you about

The trap is the toll gates. The Lekki-Epe Expressway has two toll plazas — the Admiralty Circle toll just after the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge and the second near Chevron — and traffic backs up at both, especially inbound between 7-10am and outbound 5-9pm. A hotel advertised as '15 minutes from Victoria Island' may mean 15 minutes at 6am Sunday and 75 minutes on a Wednesday evening. Check which side of the Chevron toll your hotel sits on before booking; it matters more than the star rating.

The second thing worth knowing: Ibeju-Lekki is not Lekki. Listings sometimes label a resort '35 minutes from VI' when it is actually near Eleko or the Dangote Refinery, 60-90 minutes out in real traffic. And do not skip Oniru assuming it is just Victoria Island — Oniru sits between VI and Lekki Phase 1, has Landmark Beach and the New Market, and often prices 15-25% under equivalent VI rooms while being closer to most of what visitors actually want to see.

Where to stay in Lekki: picking the right area

Lekki Phase 1 is the default answer for most first-time visitors: it sits right after the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge toll, puts you 10-15 minutes from Victoria Island, and has the highest concentration of mid-range and upscale hotels, plus Lekki Conservation Centre and the Ikoyi-Lekki bridge views. Ikate and Lekki Phase 2 are slightly cheaper, closer to Circle Mall and the Jakande roundabout, and suit business travellers heading to offices along Admiralty Way. Oniru and Victoria Island proper cost more but give you Landmark Beach, Eko Hotel and shorter runs to Ikoyi.

Further east, Chevron, Agungi, Osapa London and Ikota are residential and quieter, with serviced apartments often 20-30% below Phase 1 rates. Ajah, Sangotedo, Awoyaya and Abraham Adesanya are cheapest of all but add 45-90 minutes of expressway traffic to anywhere west of the Chevron roundabout. Ibeju-Lekki, Eleko and Lakowe are for beach and resort stays near the Dangote Refinery corridor and La Campagne Tropicana; Epe and Badagry are day-trip territory, not bases. Ikeja is the airport, not Lekki, and staying there to visit Lekki is a mistake most first-timers only make once.

Questions, answered

Where is Villa Monument Hotel located?
Villa Monument Hotel is in Nigeria, Lekki (9 Oko Awo St Lagos La, Lagos, Nigeria), close to Alpha Beach.
How much does Villa Monument Hotel cost per night?
Recent rates started around $113 per night, but prices are set live — check the booking page for your exact dates.
How many stars is Villa Monument Hotel?
Villa Monument Hotel is a 3-star hotel in Lekki.
Is Villa Monument Hotel a good hotel?
Guests rate it 4.6 across 167 reviews. It's a midscale choice for Lekki.
What’s the best area to stay in Lekki for first-time visitors?
Lekki Phase 1 is the best base for a first visit. It sits immediately after the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, has the widest choice of hotels between ₦80,000 and ₦300,000, and puts Lekki Conservation Centre, Nike Art Gallery and the Admiralty Way restaurant strip within 10 minutes. Oniru is a close second if you want Landmark Beach on your doorstep. Avoid basing yourself in Ajah or Sangotedo unless you have a specific reason — the expressway traffic will cost you two hours a day.
Which month is cheapest to visit Lekki?
June is typically the cheapest month, sitting in the middle of the main rainy season when leisure demand collapses. Mid-range hotels in Ikate, Chevron and Agungi commonly drop 25-35% below their December rates. May and September are almost as cheap. The trade-off is real: expect flash flooding on Admiralty Way and the Lekki-Epe Expressway after heavy rain, and pack for 28-31°C with high humidity.
How many nights do I need in Lekki?
Four to five nights is the right answer for most visitors. That gives you two days inside Lekki proper for Lekki Conservation Centre, Nike Art Gallery and Landmark Beach, one day for Ibeju-Lekki beaches like Eleko or La Campagne Tropicana, and a day for Ikoyi and Lagos Island sights like Freedom Park and Terra Kulture. Three nights only works if you skip the beach day. Anything over six nights is better spent adding Epe, Badagry or a domestic trip.
How do I get from Murtala Muhammed Airport to Lekki?
The straight answer is a pre-booked car or Bolt/Uber from the airport in Ikeja to Lekki, roughly 35-45 km depending on your area. Expect 60-90 minutes off-peak and 2-3 hours in Lagos rush hour, with fares around ₦15,000-₦30,000 to Lekki Phase 1 in 2024. Most hotels will arrange an airport pickup for ₦25,000-₦45,000 which is worth it on a first arrival. Do not take unmetered taxis touting inside the terminal.
Do I need a car to stay in Lekki?
Yes, effectively. There is no rail serving the Lekki peninsula, okadas are banned on the expressway and inside most estates, and walking between areas is not realistic because of distances and missing pavements. Bolt, Uber and inDrive cover Lekki well and are the standard option — budget ₦8,000-₦15,000 a day if you are moving between two or three areas. A hired car with driver runs ₦25,000-₦40,000 a day and is worth it if you are going to Ibeju-Lekki or Epe.
